RESEARCH

The research performed by Paleontologica Belgica is not restricted in a biological, geological, methodological or other sense. We tend to focus on all aspects of paleontology either technically applied or surrounding the science itself. As there should always be with a link to Belgium this does not mean that projects outside of Belgian borders are excluded. After all, in a palaeogeographical context the entire world was connected at one point or another in (deep) time.

The research performed by our organization is divided in a publication and software section. In the future, other means of research can be included.

This section gives an overview of all the publications performed by our different labs. You will find papers on biological topics such as taxonomy, functional biology, but also methodological papers on conservation and preparation techniques, as papers with a more geological input (biostratigraphy, geochemical analysis of fossils etc.). Next to the papers you can also find opinion articles, fieldwork reports, educational brochures etc. This classic method of research output is considered as one of the pillars of our operation

SOFTWARE & APPLICATIONS

Within our research section we also include a purely digital section where we offer software applications to help researchers, collectors or citizen scientists with (freeware or proprietary) software applications to help with setting up a database, imaging, morphometrics, photogrammetry etc.
