Convervation of unique fossil fauna from the last Ice Age
Project overview
In a joint project between the municipality of Berlare (Oost-Vlaanderen) and Palaeontologica Belgica, a large collection of Pleistocene mammals was restored and thoroughly catalogued for future scientific research.
This work took place at a temporary conservation and restoration lab at the local community center. Different workstations for conservation, restorations and pyrite treatment were set up, in adherance with social distance recommendations in the middle of the corona pandemic.
